My Trip to Famous Daves; Woodbridge, VA.

Ah, So my girlfriend and I went on a drive the other day... we were going to check out Landmark mall which is only a few miles from our apartment, drove past it and both said out loud " I don't think so!" So I said Amanda "Plug in the GPS we are going to Potomac Mills".

We head to Potomac Mills, and we see the Ikea! WOW, what a huge fun store! Never been, couldn't buy anything that day cuz of work... butttt will definitely be going back! ANYWAY OFF TRACK, we venture over to Potomac Mills walk around for a bit and because Amanda as been craving BBQ so I take her over to Famous Daves. Now, Its a Friday around 3 P.M. You would think that it would be dead, and most of the place was dead besides the section we get brought to. First, we pass all these clean booths that no one is sitting in ( being a server I know these are not being seated because obviously the section is closed) and get brought back to this back room to a regular table with chairs... No big deal. We sit down, and look over the Menu, When I eat BBQ I can't eat just any BBQ it has to be the real deal, which famous daves is not but ill work with what i got.

We order and we both get a salad before... which tasted like shit. But as we are sitting there, we can't even hear ourselves speak to one another because a family is having a "welcome to America party" I don't say this out of sarcasm, that is what it was. Which is great, but when your kids start to fucking scream at the top of their lungs in the restaurant , I don't care what language you speak, or how much money you have, or anything about you besides the fact that it is rude, and I'm not looking at the kids in disgust, I'm looking at you in disgust because you should say something to your child. Not throw back another beer and laugh u big goofy roger rabbit looking piece of shit. Then the kids get up and start running around. Now, I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut, but who am I to say anything, MANAGEMENT should have come over and asked them politely to keep their kids in the seat can't really tell a guest their kids need to be quiet.

During all this, a man comes in for a table for 1. We hear him talking to the waitress about the happy hour and wants to know what beers are on the happy hour special. She politely told the man that happy hour was only in the bar. So he went ahead and ordered his lunch from the waitress and than disappeared. He was gone a while, we thought he had left. She even comes out with his food and he isn't back. So we see the waitress bring the food back to the kitchen. Ten Minutes later the guy comes back and is on the phone. She walks in with our food and looks surprised to see this guy and tells him she will be right back with his food, and he just looks at her and says he wants a mai-tai. She goes back and grabs the food, drops it off and starts to walk away. The man says in an aggressive voice " MA'AM... MY DRINK!?" This fool just ordered his drink 2 minutes ago, does it look like she is a bartender? she has to wait for it, I don't know why he is in such a rush since he just left the table for 20+ minutes. I just look @ Amanda shake my head and say " I hate people, and how they act when they go out to eat." Sad, but true.

So Finally, the goofy ass roger rabbit looking guy, finishes his beer, and lets the rest of the family reunite while he pays the bill and takes the kids out of the restaurant. THANK GOD, the guy next to us is talking on the phone with his mouth full and licking his fingers, and the nice work couple that I'm sure was thinking everything I was had gotten up and left ( two of the kids ran into her chair while they were chasing each other throughout the restaurant) a Family of three is being brought back by the host.  They get brought to a table that seats four and they just stand there looking @ the table dumbfounded. I hear the guy say " This table isn't big enough" I look at Amanda and we just smile and start shaking our heads. They say " Maybe a booth is bigger"  Nope wasn't bigger Then they pick a table that seats 6. 3 people pick a table that seats 6! At this point I have had enough between the brat kids, the rude man, and now a table that doesn't like where they were sat. Not to mention the food wasn't even good.

Here is my advice to those people who came into Famous Daves:
1.- The kid situation- I'm all for kids having a good time and laughing but if they are going to scream at the top of their lungs and run around the restaurant like they have no control, take them to chuckee cheese or get a fucking babysitter. Its not the kids fault they act like this, its yours for not taking better care of your children, you just sat there and didn't even flinch when the kid started screaming at one of the other children... you gave me anxiety and in turn made my experience horrible. Thanks for not being considerate of the other people dining around you.

2.- The asshole in a rush for a drink- How bout you just go sit at the bar for happy hour if u want the happy hour and drinks so fast. Stay seated, chew with your mouth closed and start treating the person (who has been nothing but nice to you) with a little respect and not like your own personal Slave

3.- The family who doesn't have enough room- EAT AT HOME! There is no reason you should have asked for a table big enough for six people, the table wasn't even in someones section, I don't think you realize what you do when you go into a restaurant and what everything catered to you. Eat the fuck at home. If I were the server, i already would have had a bad taste in my mouth and probably would have given up getting a good tip so u could just have an "okay" dining experience.

Our service was great, she was very punctual and sweet, the management did a table visit, kudos, and the food was okay wouldnt recommend anything, but it was okay... LOL

Until Next Time

Be Honest. Write down what you would TIP!

Alright, to all you restaurant eaters out there, I want you to comment and tell me what you would tip if you would go out to eat and spend $25, $50, and $100... Please let me know. Give me some feed back. I am getting sick and tired of people coming out to eat and tipping 10-15% remember we do not get paychecks! We only get tips. IF the service sucks, I understand, but be honest and let me know what you would leave for the waitress if u were to go out and spend $25, $50 and $100.

3 W's " Wonderful Words of Wisdom"

Man, I wish I could say that I would be writing today, and I would have words of wisdom for everyone to follow and make their days a better one.... but I'm not. dammit.

Over the past year, I have changed a lot of things in my life, and I continue to change each and every day. I make mistakes, I cry, I bitch, I scream, I laugh, I'm depressed, I'm happy... My mood swings are HORRIBLE... I am one way one minute, and .5 seconds later I am completely different.

Basically this is my life in a nutshell - I, Gina V------i-s, am a 26 year old divorced lesbian server who lives with her parents... OMG... that's AWESOME... I could probably have my own realty TV show. I don't know where I am going yet, but I know I am going somewhere.  I've been waiting for the busy season @ the ole Restaurant and I know its gonna hit soon, and when it does my girlfriend of a little over a year and I are moving to the City.

I am hoping that things will come together sooner rather than later so I will have more positive and uplifting blog posts for my friends to read. Here are some of the things I will most definitely be blogging about so stay tuned:
* My ups and downs of every day life
* The Serving world/Tipping
* Gay Rights.. ha ha j.k
* Realty TV Shows i.e. Teen Mom, Bad Girls Club... those are the two that drive me CRAZY but yet I still am totally addicted to
* My Career options and what the F$%k I am going to do with my life.

I'm sure I will be adding to the list... I love debating too... Not sure if I will be doing any of that on this blog but a good debate on a certain subject is always entertaining, so please feel free to comment against my opinion :)
